25 Mar WALTER GERBER FROM GERBER MOTORSPORT
SEATTLE, WA, Mar 25, 2016- Walter Gerber began his long-standing career in Porsche racing in Switzerland as an apprentice and graduated after four years of intense mechanical training. When his training was complete, Walter decided to try his hand at Porsche service abroad. He moved to Canada and served as a technician in Toronto for one year. After returning to Switzerland from Canada, Walter decided once again to go overseas. This time it was Australia. After seven successful championship-winning years running Porsche 935s with the Alan Hamilton team, Walter set his sights even higher and found his way to the United States.
His U.S. racing career began with Bayside Motorsports, where he soon started a highly successful management journey that is still going strong today. During his time in the U.S. Walter has managed the teams of drivers ranging from Bob Wollek, Jurgen Barth, Hurley Haywood, Derek Bell, Jeff Andretti, Lynn StJames, to Bobby Rahal and many others. During his time with these drivers, Walter has managed to rack up an impressive list of victories. Among these were the 24 Hours of Daytona as recently as 2001, the 12 Hours of Sebring, along with victories at Columbus, Sears Point, Laguna Seca, the streets of Miami, and many others. Walter also enjoyed the success that comes along with winning a championship by taking Jorge Trejos to the 1995 IMSA GT-3 title.
Walter is still winning championships for his clients today, as he currently manages John Goodman Racing’s efforts. Walter has taken John to consecutive SOVREN big-bore titles in 2003 and 2004. As for the future, Walter will tell you that there are still many more races to contest and championships to win.
